Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin, exposing the fresh, new, younger-looking skin underneath. That’s why exfoliation is a critical part of any skincare routine. It works for all skin types and all ages, whether you want to diminish the fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes or lips or get rid of the dryness and flaking of eczema or psoriasis.

The problem with exfoliating is that most commercial products damage your skin by using harsh abrasives like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). But if the thought of spending an hour in the bathroom with a facial scrub fills you with dread, don’t worry. You can get younger-looking skin in just three minutes a day, thanks to these nifty little exfoliating pads from PCA Skin.

In this blog, I will be explaining how you can exfoliate your skin in 3 minutes a day. This can help you achieve a youthful glow and a healthy complexion.

You will need the following items: 1 washcloth or loofah; soap or other face wash; water; and your hands to rub the soap on your face.

1. Soak the washcloth in warm water. Not so hot that it burns, but hot enough so that you can handle it comfortably. This step helps to open up your pores and make them easier to clean out.

2. Put soap or whatever washing agent you are using onto the washcloth, or onto your hands if you are not using a washcloth or loofah.

3. Rub it around on your face gently but firmly for about 2 minutes, concentrating on areas where there is blackhead build-up. If using a washcloth, you can also add some more pressure by scrubbing with the cloth in a circle motion (I like to do this on my nose), and rubbing back and forth along my jawline (to help get rid of those little white bumps). You can use more rigorous scrubbing motions on areas that are less delicate such as your forehead and cheeks,

To get started, here are some tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way:

Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that is essential for the production of collagen. The topical application of vitamin C has many benefits for aging skin. Unfortunately, vitamin C is highly unstable and oxidizes easily in the presence of light and air. It is therefore important to make sure that your vitamin C serum has been packaged in a way that maintains its stability. Ideally, you want a serum that comes in an opaque package with a pump dispenser that dispenses just the right amount with each use, as this will help to minimize air exposure and keep it fresh.

I recommend Skinceuticals CE Ferulic serum, which is high quality and contains 15% pure vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid) at a pH of 3.5. This serum has been packaged properly and should last up to six months after opening if stored in a cool place away from light. If you prefer something more affordable, then I recommend SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF serum; this product also contains 10% l-ascorbic acid but only at a pH of 2.5 so it may be too harsh for sensitive skin types.
