1. Don’t over-exfoliate

Sure, exfoliating is great, but don’t overdo it! Exfoliating too much actually irritates your skin and can make it dryer than before. If you do need to exfoliate, use a mild product and limit yourself to once or twice a week.

2. Moisturize more

In winter, you need to moisturize more often than in summer. But you should also switch up your moisturizer depending on the weather outside. In dry, cold weather, use a heavier, oil-based moisturizer to keep moisture from escaping through your pores. When it’s humid outside, switch back to a water-based moisturizer so your skin can still breathe. You should also pick a good hand cream and foot balm for extra care during the cold months.

You should be moisturizing twice daily – once in the morning before you put on makeup, and once in the evening after you shower or wash your face. If you want an extra boost of moisture for your skin, apply body lotion or facial moisturizer right after you shower or wash your face

Our skin is exposed to the elements all year round. The winter months can be especially hard on our skin, as we are often out in the cold and wind or spending hours in centrally heated rooms. This can leave your skin dry, irritated and sore.

To avoid this there are a number of things you can do to keep your skin healthy and beautiful during the winter.
