Researchers at the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition found that using the two substances together increases their cancer-fighting power. The scientists added a green tea extract and an extract from Aloe barbadensis Miller (aloe vera) to human colon cancer cells in test tubes. They found that combining the two extracts produced an anti-cancer effect greater than either one alone.

“The results suggest that this may be a potential therapy for colorectal cancer,” said Dr. Shyam Biswal, associate professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s division of environmental health sciences and lead author of the study, which was published in April 2010 in the journal “Cancer Prevention Research.”
